Do I Need Two Copies of ‘It Takes Two’ to Play with a Friend?

While many think you need two copies of ‘It Takes Two‘ to play together, that’s not true! This unique, award-winning video game is built entirely around cooperative gameplay. You and a friend take on the roles of Cody and May, a couple on the brink of divorce who are magically transformed into dolls. Together, you’ll navigate fantastical worlds, solve creative puzzles, and mend your fractured relationship.

Now, let’s take a look at how to invite friends and play the game together.

What is a Friend’s Pass?

The amazing thing about ‘It Takes Two‘ is that you only need to buy one copy to play with a friend. The game includes a “Friend’s Pass” which lets you invite another person to download a special version – for free! Once they have the Friend’s Pass, they can join you for the entire adventure.

How does it work?

  1. You (the owner of the game) send an invite from within ‘It Takes Two’.
  2. Your friend downloads the Friend’s Pass on their platform.
  3. They accept the invite and can immediately join your game.

Where Can You Play?

It Takes Two‘ supports both online and local “couch” co-op. So you and your friend can team up on the same screen or team up online. Just remember, you both need to be playing on the same type of system (e.g., both on PlayStation or both on PC) since it doesn’t support cross-platform play.

When do you both need online subscriptions?

Online play usually requires subscriptions like PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold, or Nintendo Switch Online on their respective systems. Local couch co-op does not.
