Freya ML: Best Item Build, Spell, Emblem, Strategy Guide 2022

Updated for Patch 2.1.45 (January 19, 2026): Freya’s best build and emblem have been revised to match the latest meta.

If you enjoy fighters who feel strongest once a fight starts to fall apart, Freya is still a solid pick. She does not rush into every skirmish, and she does not win fights on the first hit. She waits, builds momentum, and takes over when enemies are already committed.

Freya can feel inconsistent at first. Some games you walk through fights and feel impossible to deal with. Other games you step forward once and disappear. That difference usually comes down to timing rather than mechanics.

This Freya ML guide is about understanding that timing, and learning how to let Freya do what she does best without forcing her into fights she is not ready for.

Freya ML Skills

Freya Mobile Legends skill list: Power of Einherjar, Leap of Faith, Spirit Combo, Valkyrie Descent

Passive Skill: Power of Einherjar

As you land Basic Attacks, you build Sacred Orbs, up to a full stack. Spending those Orbs speeds up your attacks, letting you deal more damage the longer you stay in range. When you step away from combat, the Orbs slowly return.

🔑 Key note: This is why Freya prefers longer exchanges. Short trades rarely feel rewarding. When you enter a fight with Orbs ready and stay close to your target, your damage ramps naturally and enemies start to feel uncomfortable staying near you.

First Skill: Leap of Faith

Leap of Faith carries you forward, knocks enemies up briefly, and gives you a shield. It helps you close distance and gives you a small safety net when damage starts coming in.

🔑 Key note: In practice, this skill feels better when you hold it for the right moment. Waiting until enemies step forward or commit to a fight usually gives you more value than jumping in early and hoping for the best.

Second Skill: Spirit Combo

You dash forward and slash, slowing enemies while consuming Sacred Orbs. Since the skill has no base cooldown, your pressure depends entirely on how well you manage those Orbs.

🔑 Key note: Using Valkyrie Slash thoughtfully keeps you present in fights. Using it too freely drains your resources and makes it harder to stay threatening. Over time, you start to feel when to pause and when to continue.

Ultimate: Valkyrie Descent

You dive into a chosen area, shrugging off control effects and taking less damage during the descent. After landing, you enter your Valkyrie state, where your Basic Attacks heal you, hit multiple enemies, and allow you to remain in fights longer.

🔑 Key note: This ultimate gives you confidence once attention turns toward you. It feels most natural when activated after the fight has already begun, when enemies are focused elsewhere and cannot easily disengage.

Freya ML Build 2026

Freya’s build choices are fairly flexible, though they always revolve around the same idea. You want enough attack speed to let her kit function, enough damage to stay relevant through the mid game, and enough durability to survive once enemies start paying attention to you.

In most games, Freya falls into one of two roles: jungle or EXP lane. Each role asks slightly different things from her build, so it helps to think about how you plan to enter fights before locking items in.

Best Jungle Build for Freya in Mobile Legends

  • Tough Boots
  • Golden Staff
  • Corrosion Scythe
  • War Axe
  • Malefic Roar
  • Blade of Despair

With this setup, your damage stays consistent rather than spiky. You cut through armor more easily, keep pressure on targets during longer fights, and have the finishing power to close fights once you are ahead.

🔑 Key note: This jungle build rewards clean entries and good timing. You are strongest when you join fights after enemies commit and stay close long enough for your sustained damage to matter.

Best EXP Build for Freya in Mobile Legends

  • Tough Boots
  • Golden Staff
  • War Axe
  • Brute Force Breastplate
  • Oracle
  • Sea Halberd

With this setup, you give yourself more room to play. You have time to build Sacred Orbs, stay connected to fights, and survive once enemies start focusing you. It suits slower games where extended trades and teamfights decide the outcome.

🔑 Key note: Against heavy burst threats like Karina, swapping in defensive options such as Queen’s Wings or Rose Gold Meteor can make fights feel much safer, especially once the game reaches mid to late stages.

Best Emblem Build for Freya

Your emblem choice on Freya depends on the role you are playing and how you expect fights to unfold. Both setups focus on increasing your damage during extended contact, though they support slightly different play patterns.

Custom Fighter Emblem (EXP Lane)

This emblem works best when you are playing Freya in the EXP lane and joining fights from the side rather than diving first.

  • Thrill gives you extra adaptive attack, helping your damage feel more stable during trades.
  • Festival of Blood adds sustain, which matters in longer fights and side lane skirmishes.
  • Killing Spree rewards successful engagements by restoring HP after takedowns, letting you stay in fights longer once momentum shifts in your favor.

This emblem setup supports Freya’s preference for extended trades and gives you more room to play when fights stretch out.

Custom Assassin Emblem (Jungle)

This emblem fits jungle Freya, where faster clears and stronger damage scaling matter more.

  • Thrill helps your early damage feel smoother while farming and skirmishing.
  • Weapons Master increases the value you get from items, which scales well as your build comes together.
  • Killing Spree gives you sustain after takedowns, helping you chain fights and stay active around objectives.

This emblem setup suits games where you want to snowball through objectives and skirmishes once you are online.

Freya Gameplay Tips and Strategy

Freya’s gameplay revolves around her strong early game presence, ability to dive into fights, and exceptional scaling in sustained combat. To make the most of her potential, understanding her laning phase, rotations, and team fight positioning is crucial.

Laning Phase (Early Game)

In the early game, your priority is stability. Freya does not need to win the lane outright to be useful later. Focus on clearing waves cleanly and building Sacred Orbs through safe Basic Attacks rather than forcing extended trades too early.

Against poke-heavy EXP laners like Gloo or Esmeralda, it is better to play patiently. Keep your distance, secure farm, and avoid trading health unnecessarily. You want to reach level four without falling behind, since Freya’s early strength comes more from preparation than pressure.

When facing squishier melee fighters such as Zilong, you have more freedom to trade. You can step forward once you have Sacred Orbs ready, using Leap of Faith to stay close and pressure them during short exchanges. Even then, avoid overcommitting before your ultimate is available.

Boot choice should reflect the matchup. Tough Boots are usually safer against magic damage and crowd control, while physical-heavy lanes can justify an early defensive adjustment.

Once you reach level four, you gain more confidence in trades. Valkyrie Descent gives you the durability to stay in fights longer, though it still works best when used after the enemy commits rather than as an opening move.

Mid-Late Game Rotations

As the mid game begins and outer turrets fall, Freya starts to feel more comfortable. This is where your decision-making matters more than raw damage.

After pushing your lane, rotate toward mid or gold lane to apply pressure alongside your team. Move with purpose and avoid wandering alone through open areas. When rotating, pay attention to enemy crowd control threats such as Kaja or Franco, since getting caught before a fight starts removes most of your impact.

Position slightly behind your tank or initiator during skirmishes. Let them draw attention first, then step in once abilities are spent and positioning breaks down. This is where Freya performs best.

During fights, use Valkyrie Slash to stay connected to priority targets rather than diving blindly into the backline. Save Valkyrie Descent for moments when damage starts coming back at you or when the fight is clearly committing. This timing gives you more value from the healing and damage reduction.

At this stage, focus on helping your team secure space. Pressure lanes when possible, support objective fights, and create room for your marksman to farm safely.

Best Battle Spell For Freya

Retribution

Mobile Legends Retribution icon, recommended battle spell for Freya

Retribution is the correct choice when you are playing Freya in the jungle. It is not about fighting more aggressively. It is about securing resources and controlling objectives without falling behind.

With Retribution, you can clear camps more reliably, contest buffs safely, and contribute meaningfully during Turtle and Lord fights. It also gives you more freedom to farm before committing to fights, which suits Freya’s need to build items and Sacred Orbs before she feels comfortable stepping in.

When you take Retribution, focus on efficiency. Clear cleanly, arrive early to objectives, and avoid forcing fights before your build comes together. Once you are online, Retribution lets you convert your presence into real advantages for your team.

Inspire

Mobile Legends Inspire icon, recommended battle spell for Freya

Inspire fits games where you expect to commit fully once you step in. It increases your attack speed and strengthens your Basic Attacks, which works naturally with how Freya builds pressure through sustained contact. When used at the right moment, Inspire helps you push through short windows where enemies are already committed and cannot easily disengage.

This spell feels best when you are confident in your timing. Activating it too early often wastes its value. Using it once the fight has settled lets you get the most out of Freya’s passive and item build.

Flicker

Mobile Legends Flicker icon, recommended battle spell for Freya

Flicker offers flexibility and safety. It gives you instant repositioning, which helps when fights shift unexpectedly or when enemies try to lock you down with crowd control. You can use it to close distance, adjust your angle during a fight, or escape once your resources are spent.

Flicker suits games where positioning matters more than raw damage. It gives you room to correct small mistakes and stay relevant even when fights do not unfold cleanly.
