Innersloth announced on October 8 that the Among Us Story release date is February 17, 2027, when the standalone detective game On Guard launches on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, and Android. The date arrived with a new trailer during the Triple-i Initiative showcase, and the game was first revealed at Summer Game Fest in June.
What Is Among Us Story: On Guard?
On Guard is a single-player narrative adventure set in the Among Us universe, developed and published by Innersloth. You play as the Operator, who helps MIRA Research & Development with its new Crewmate training program, and the simulation puts you in the role of Guard, a hard-boiled private eye in charge of shipwide security. When a murder happens, you have to prove your own innocence and find the Impostor before the rest of the crew falls victim.
How the Investigation Works
The new trailer shows investigation mini-games similar to the ones in the original Among Us, along with the deductive reasoning the Guard uses to narrow down the Impostor. You talk with crewmates such as a Cook, a Scientist, a Doctor, and a Captain while you complete tasks and collect clues, and the story can end in one of three ways. Lead game designer Carol Mertz told GamesBeat in June that the game explores the humor that comes up naturally during regular Among Us matches.
Among Us Story Release Date and Demo
Players who want to try the game before the Among Us Story release can use the free demo on Steam until October 15, and an earlier version ran from June 15 to June 22 during Steam Next Fest. The Among Us Story release date of February 17, 2027 applies to all five platforms, and the game can already be wishlisted on Steam.
