Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Season 42, called Starward Decade, launched on September 16, 2026, as the game’s 10th Anniversary Special Season. The MLBB S42 Patch 2.2.16 include full reworks for Masha and Bruno, balance changes for roughly twenty more heroes, and a separate map update arriving September 28.

Moonton picked its 10th year to stop tinkering around the edges. This MLBB Patch 2.2.16 Notes cover Season 42 “Starward Decade,” the 10th Anniversary update that went live today as the centerpiece of Mobile Legends’ Anniversary celebration, and it touches almost every part of the game. Here’s the whole thing broken down so you can find what matters to you without reading a wall of patch notes.

What’s in the MLBB Patch 2.2.16

Here’s the short version of MLBB Patch 2.2.16 Notes before we go section by section:

  • Masha and Bruno both got full reworks, not just number tweaks
  • Around 20 more heroes got buffed or nerfed, including Aulus, Argus, Aldous, Kalea, Melissa, Miya, and Hanabi
  • Classic mode has its own separate balance pass (Zilong down, Akai up)
  • A new map update lands September 28 with Revealing Wisps, a reworked Healing Turtle, and Golden Turrets
  • Comeback gold got easier to earn, and targeting priority is smarter about picking real kill targets
  • Season 42 “Starward Decade” started at midnight on September 16, resetting ranks

Revamped Masha

Masha used to live and die as a split-pusher who could shrug off death with her old invulnerability gimmick. That identity is gone.

  • New Passive, Primal Pact: Three separate HP bars instead of one. She only dies once the third bar is empty. Dealing damage to heroes or creeps builds Feral, which converts into HP once she leaves combat.
  • The chase mechanic: Landing skill damage leaves a Wound on the target. Hitting that Wound with a basic attack breaks it and triggers her Feral state, turning her next 3 basic attacks into wide-range claw strikes and granting a burst of Resilience, Attack Speed, and Movement Speed.
  • Skill 1, Feral Swipe: Releases energy forward, damaging everything in its path and slowing any enemy heroes hit.
  • Skill 2, Claw Strike: Dashes and unleashes a wide claw strike on reaching max range or hitting a non-minion enemy. Cooldown resets every time she loses an HP bar.
  • Ultimate, Savage Maul: Charges a target hero for damage and a stun, knocking back nearby enemies.

The takeaway: Masha is built for sustained teamfight brawling now, not hit-and-run split pushing.

Revamped Bruno

Bruno’s rework touches nearly every part of his kit, but the throughline is that his Powerball mechanic finally does what it always looked like it should.

  • Skill 1, Volley Shot: Movement Speed boost now triggers on kicking the Powerball instead of on damage dealt, and it decays gradually. Landing distance scales with his own Movement Speed, powerballs stay on the ground longer (2s to 3s), multiple powerballs can be picked up separately, and casting no longer interrupts basic attacks. Base damage dropped from 100-225 to 75-150 to offset how much easier it is to land.
  • Skill 2, Slide: Rebuilt around pursuit and escape instead of positioning. The dash follows your joystick direction, the pullback effect on his Powerball is gone (he gains one when the slide ends instead), the damage component was removed, and the stun dropped from 0.5s to 0.1s. Costs more mana, longer cooldown.
  • Ultimate, Worldie: Now a cleaner teamfight starter. The first hit applies a stun and a heavy slow instead of reducing Defense, and that stun and knockback now lasts 0.5s instead of 0.1s, five times longer than before. The bounce prioritizes enemy heroes. Damage numbers came down to balance the higher reliability.

The takeaway: Bruno’s kit finally rewards actually using his Powerball instead of fighting around it.

Hero Buffs This Patch

HeroWhat Changed
AulusEnhanced Basic Attacks now trigger off any skill hit and heal him per hit; Skill 2’s first cast stuns instead of granting lifesteal
ArgusGains 30% Crit Chance passively; crits trigger an extra Demonic Slash; Ultimate scales harder the lower his HP drops
AldousPassive shield now triggers every 8 seconds instead of needing 3 basic attacks, plus a Movement Speed burst on shield gain
LukasPassive Resolve gain jumps from 2 to 3.5; Skill 1 and Skill 2 damage both increased to strengthen his Exp Lane
AlphaPassive scales off Total Physical Attack for more early damage; Skill 2 healing roughly doubles and triggers on every hit
EdithCan pass through walls ejecting from Phylax; gains Movement Speed while flying; new way to build Wrath inside her mech
KarinaSkill 1 cooldown down a full second at every rank; Enhanced Basic Attack damage increased
KajaSkill 1 cooldown down from 7s to 5.5s and now heals him for 45% of his Total Magic Power
CiciMore damage to high-HP targets early, faster EXP Crab clears, more healing per Delight stack
KaleaComprehensive buff: Skill 1 damage and cooldown improved, Ultimate now scales off Max HP, passive heal significantly increased

Hero Nerfs This Patch

HeroWhat Changed
MelissaSkill 1’s Attack Speed bonus and duration both reduced; Muddles from Skill 2 deal less transferred damage
MiyaMoonlight Shadow passive damage reduced; fixed a bug where Split Arrow was dealing extra unintended damage
HanabiRepeated Petal Blade bounces on the same target now deal 30% less each time, capping single-target burst
Yi Sun-shinSkill 1 cooldown increased at low levels, cutting down dash frequency
PaquitoEnhanced Skill 2 loses damage scaling even as base numbers rose slightly, reining in early snowballing
MarcelSkill 1 and 2 damage reduced and cooldowns extended; Ultimate gains a new ability to freeze location-targeted skills

Sun and Odette: Playstyle Tweaks, Not Straight Nerfs

  • Sun: Doppelganger clones now deal only 60% damage while taking 150%, and killing one nets the enemy far less gold. This targets roaming Sun players who were eating teammates’ resources. Passive HP Regen was reduced to balance the change.
  • Odette: Her Ultimate’s second cast is gone, but she can now move freely, a bit slower, while it’s active.

Classic Mode Gets Its Own Balance Pass

HeroChange
Zilong (nerf)Enhanced Basic Attack damage down, Ultimate cooldown longer
Akai (buff)Passive and Skill 2 both deal more Max-HP-based damage; Ultimate knockback now matches the standard mode

New Map Features Arriving September 28

The hero changes are live today as part of the MLBB 10th Anniversary Patch, but a separate map update called the 2026 Annual Map Change arrives later this month.

  • Revealing Wisps: Pickable items scattered across the map that circle a hero for a few seconds, revealing hidden enemies within a large radius.
  • Healing Turtle: No longer grants a shield. Instead spawns an allied Turtle on the enemy’s strongest lane, healing nearby allies and helping push that lane’s turrets.
  • Golden Turret: Shares much more gold with the whole team when destroyed; turret HP increased across the board.
  • Flying Cloud: Gets an upgraded visual effect.

Comeback Economy and Targeting Fixes

  • Base gold from jungle creeps (Horned Lizard, Fire Beetle, Lava Golem) dropped 13%
  • Team Bounty threshold for bonus gold dropped from a 2,000 to a 1,500 gold deficit, making comebacks easier to trigger
  • “Lowest HP” targeting option renamed to “Lowest Effective HP,” which factors in Defense and Penetration to lock onto whoever’s actually easiest to kill (Karina, Karrie, Lesley, and Thamuz keep the old “Lowest HP” logic since their damage mostly ignores defense)
  • Basic Attack pursuit fixed: repeated taps now prioritize chasing the same target instead of flip-flopping onto nearby minions

Social and Progression Updates

  • Namecard revamp: 3D model displays, entrance animations, and multiple equippable ID cards (Mythic Medal, Collector, Season Info, and more)
  • Super Like: A brighter, more noticeable like you can send friends, with a Like Shop to redeem exclusive skins and banners
  • Battle Achievement Interface: A new Supreme Medal for standout performances on match result screens in Ranked, Classic, and MLBB Rising Open
  • Announcements tab removed: Everything important now folds into the News tab instead

Brawl Mode Balance Changes

Toned DownBuffed
Dyrroth, Barats, Sora, Hanabi, Martis, Guinevere, Beatrix, Aldous, Minotaur, Miya, Marcel, Edith, Irithel, Esmeralda, Grock, KarrieChip, Granger, X.Borg, Pharsa, Kaja, Joy, Nolan, Harley, Uranus, Kalea, Hirara, Valentina, Zhuxin, and Franco (whose skill cooldowns got cut significantly)

MLBB Season 42 Ranked Rewards

  • Season 41 ended at 9:59:59 PM server time on September 15
  • Season 42 “Starward Decade” began at midnight on September 16, resetting ranks
  • Ranked rewards this season include the Popol and Kupa “Flamehide Thane” skin and the “Starward Decade” avatar border

Between the two full hero reworks, the map update still to come on the 28th, and everything packed into the systems side of this update, these MLBB S42 Patch 2.2.16 cover more ground than most MLBB updates get in an entire year, and the meta you build around this week’s changes isn’t even the finished picture yet.
